Some people seemed to take my post “The Racial Tallies Are In” a lot more seriously than I did. David Alexander felt the need to become the Atlas of the black race and wallow in the pits of racial despair yet again. Obsidian chided me for not being DA’s shrink, again. A couple of Hispanic commenters took offense at my joke that Hispanics have no racial strengths (despite the fact that I can almost guarantee these commenters look nothing like the border jumpers) and some White Power guy felt the need to make an ill-informed and offensive rant. I briefly thought about censoring Mr. Stormfront, but then I figured that since I had already let Obsidian call white people “crackers” several times, I would let this comment slide also. The Asian of Reason took the assessments in stride as usual, and contributed to my mission of building more accurate racial stereotypes.
All very interesting.
Vincent Ignatius made a couple of good points that tied into an earlier post, Mr. Kurtz syndrome. He commented that the people who seem to be the most snobby about their intelligence are those ~2 standard deviations above the norm, because those that are much higher have a hard time relating to people in general, even other “smart” people. I think he’s on track here.
Mr. Kurtz Syndrome is most likely going to set in when a person’s idealistic notions of reality come crashing down. When you have an IQ of about 130 or so (top 2 or 3 %), you’ll spend your youth surrounded by other people of about the same intelligence. Many families have an historical mean IQ of 130. I’d wager that this describes the average AP student in a US high school (besides those schools in heavily minority districts where students are improperly tracked into AP classes). When your IQ gets to ~ 3 standard deviations, it is hard to relate to even the “smart kids”, so you either 1) stop being picky, or 2) don’t develop any friends at all, and fall off the “nerd cliff”. Those who have extremely high IQ’s are thus unlikely to develop Mr. Kurtz syndrome because they are unlikely to develop overly idealistic notions of intellectual equality to begin with.
Obsidian just put up a new post where he seems to think the end result of HBD acceptance is the extermination of black people. That’s silly. But he wisely chose to quote at length the much more articulate David Alexander, which may make his post worth responding to.

I think you overestimating the IQ. At 130, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll spend your youth surrounded by other people of about the same intelligence, unless you attend a selective school with extremely high entry requirements, and there are very few of these around. Even in upper-class public schools/private schools, I’d say an IQ of 115 is far more realistic, for the average student. An average AP student probably only has a max IQ of 120. An AP student who is scoring 4-5s consistently, 130.

As always, I’m open to being wrong, but AP classes in many public schools only have the top 5% or less of students. In my AP classes years ago the average SAT scores were in the 1400s (when it was out of 1600) which corresponds to at least a 130 IQ, according to comparison charts I’ve seen in the past.

AP classes in many public schools probably have around 10% or less of students. However, at most public schools, these students wouldn’t be 1400+ SAT kids, they would only be around 1250-1350 kids. At rich public schools, a large percentage of students take AP courses, exceeding 50% in many cases.
Eric is right, consistently scoring 5’s/1400+ SAT is highly indicative of a 130+ IQ. However, the average AP kid, isn’t getting all 5’s, he’s probably getting a mix of 3’s and 4’s, and scores between 1250-1350 on the SAT. It’s unrealistic to assume the AVERAGE AP student is a 1400+ SAT scorer. You do refer to the average after all. I think you are superimposing your experience onto reality. I call your bet, and raise it. I’m glad you are open to being wrong. Not many people are. Especially, um, yeah.
And unless you hang out with nerds all the time, I don’t see how you can spend your entire youth without any meaningful contact with people of lower intelligence. There are activities such as athletics that can bring people from all IQ’s together.
I’ve had a few white friends from high school who I considered “dumb”, but they most likely had IQ’s of 100~. They were fun to hang out with, but deeper conservation with them never went far. One of my friends father was an emergency room surgeon, but he wasn’t a bright one. The apple fell far from that tree. I suppose his dearth of intelligence could be attributed to the fact that his mother was a signer/model and I didn’t think his mom was too bright. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have offspring considerably dumber than myself. The thought scares me. That’s why I’ll insist on marrying smart.
I think you are wrong on Mr.Kurtz syndrome either. I think it can be very easy to connect with people of lower IQ, as long as you realize their limitations, and stop expecting the impossible from them. It’s easy to see them as less human only if you believe that their limitations are a result of a lack of effort. Then you become angry at their shortcomings, like Mr. Kurtz.

If the segregation is only in the academic realm, then it can be easy to reason the only cause for the underperformance of others is their values/class/upbringing/work ethic.

I went to a good high school in Fairfax County (one of the richest counties in the US). I’d estimate my class IQ around 110-115. We took an IQ test in AP Psych and the class average was 120. Most of my friends who were in the 1250-1350 SAT range were getting 3s/4s on their APs. Those who were high 1400s or 1500s were getting 5s on all their APs.

I didn’t go to TJ, although a friend of mine transferred there sophomore year. He said that two-thirds of the kids were above-average hard workers but nothing crazy. Another quarter were like him and me (+3 SD). The remaining 10% were definitely smarter than us.
My interactions with TJ kids at UVA supports his observation.

To all these parents subjecting, or willing to subject, their children to IQ tests as age 6: WTF.
If the U.S. government diligently embarked on a (mandatory) campaign to measure a representative sample of all U.S. children’s (standardized) IQ, I might buy some of it.
As it is, IQ samples are but a wet dream of each parent’s misplaced youthful aspiration.
IQ’s are only as good as the sample. Which frankly, sucks.

Strengths: Super intelligent, psychic abilities, not very violent, hard working, no body oder.

I really do not know if he would be fun to be around, but I would think David Alexander would just be a good friend to have. Obsidian is an asshole, while Alexander is warm, intelligent, and seems to me to be a honest man. I think the world would be better off if more people were like Alexander.

Obsidian clearly often has somewhat of a problem with HBD bloggers because they’ll openly assert and discuss things like lower relative IQ, higher relative crime, etc., among blacks. He’s obviously irritated by it, at least somewhat.
That’s why he’ll passive-aggressively needle white HBD blogs and bloggers by always harping on the problems of high IQ or something like that.

Here in Atlanta we have tons of recent African immigrants and the difference in values, work ethic and demeanor is painfully obvious. It is well known that the successful recent African immigrants are very hesitant about letting their children mix with American blacks, or pick up AA mannerisms or culture. In fact, I can almost always (visually) pick out the recent African immigrants by the way they carry themselves in public or even walk down the street.

I’d argue it’s the only reasonable solution to the problem. I don’t think it’s possible to have 12% of your population that’s easily discernible with lower living conditions, especially in light of surveys that seem to imply greater belief on their part to their skills and talents. I don’t think it’s sustainable to have black people living in any non-black country regardless of IQ, and the best option would be racial extermination. Via the method, whites are spared from having to deal with angry rump population that may engage in terrorism from being excluded from high standards of living, or from having to provide welfare to ensure high living standards. Blacks are spared from having to deal with the indignity of not being able to compete in the modern world and from being a complete embarrassment. One could argue that it’s better for blacks to not exist than to live with low living conditions.

The problem is that most black countries suck compared to all other countries. The only ones that don’t suck still have high crime rates and live off tourism, resource extraction, and banking from whites and have small populations. No black country is self-sustaining from the natural initiative and effort of native blacks, and that’s depressing.
